55A 1860 Jan 21 Jan 21 The Church of Christ in conference Brother Gibson Boyett Moderator 1st invited brethren and sisters from sister churches of the faith and order of this church to seets with us 2nd opened the dore for the reception of members 3rd called for acknowledgments 4th called for references 5th called for maters of gospel dealing 6th called for miscellaneous business and went into the choice of a clerk by ballot to fill the vacancy of brother Jordan and chose brother Will Amos unanimously also took up the case of choosing one deacon and (?) for the same to our next conferance agreed that the 8th notice of our decorum stand as first framed and the rules of decorum be read at the same time by (request of?) brother Boyd. we agree to release him from our service and went into choice of another supply by ballot and chose brother T. Amos Clk 56 Record of Deed State of Alabama Know all these presents that I Elizabeth Ganey Butler County of the county of Butler and state afforesaid for and in consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by Wiley Jordan, Deacon of the Ivy Creek Baptist Church the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge do herein grant bargain sell in feoff and confirm unto the said Wiley Jordan and his successors as deacon of the Primitive baptist church of Ivy Creek for church and school purposes the following described land to wit: Commencing at the north east corner turning two hundred yards west, thence due South to beaver branch thence down Beaver branch to the line thence North to the North east corner said land being a portion of the North East fourth of the southwest fourth of section No four 4 township No eight 8 of Range seventeen 17 containing t(word missing) acres more or less lying and being in the county of Butler and embraced in the District of lands subject to entry at Greenville Alabama together with all and singular her? demands thereunto belonging or apertaining to have and to hold the affore granted land to the said Wiley Jordan and his successors as deacon of said Ivy Creek church and where?of soever? and do covenant with said Wiley Jordan and his successors as deacon of said church that I am lawfully sei(zed?) in feeoff the affore granted premises ? they are free from any encumberance 57 and that I have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said Wiley Jordan and his successors as Deacon of said Ivy Creek church and that I will and my heirs and assigns shall warrant and defend the said premises to the said Wiley Jordan and his successors as Deacon of Ivy Creek church forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons in witness whereoff (sic) I the said Elizabeth Ganey have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 23rd? day of July 1851?/59?.
