The following records are excerpts from 14
pages of records of the Confederate Widow's Pension Application that my
GG-Grandmother, Sarah Ann Stuart, filed in the early 1900s. These records are in three groups from four
specific dates; May 4, 1907; October 26, 1922; November 23, 1922; September 3, 1929. I have included some notes about items I
believe to be important. With the
exception of main titles, all information in bold print was written or typed in
on each form as a response to a question, or a blank. I have transcribed the responses exactly as
written, making no effort to correct spelling or punctuation.
As Sarah A. Stuart's original Confederate
Widow's Pension Application was approved on August 12, 1907, I can only assume
that subsequent forms were required occasionally to update the State's records
an re-verify her pensioner's status.
