The State of Alabama        )         I M. B. Smith having this day contracted for

Lamar County                    )         certain lands to wit: SEĽ of SEĽ Sec. 23 and NEĽ of NEĽ Sec. 26 T 14 R 15 in said county and having given my notes for same and Whereas there is to be due on said land the sum of fifty dollars on the 15th day of Nov. 1893 and I do hereby agree if I make default in the payment of said note I will then pay the rent on said land for 1893 one third of the corn and one fourth of the cotton grown on said land – and the said Turner may treat me as his tenant but if I pay the said note of $50 then this obligation is to be void as to said year.  It is further agreed that this obligation is to extend to the years 1893 and 1894, there being payments of $93.50 due on the 15th of Nov. in each of said years, and if I default in the payment of said notes I agree for the relation of landlord and tenant to exist between us and the customary rents for lands may be collected.  This Nov. 8th 1892.

I James F. Turner agree that if at the end of the time stipulated in the bond for the payment of the purchase money to wit Nov. 15th 1895 if only the rent has been paid that if said Smith will then pay the full amount due that I will treat the rent as purchase money.
