Seeking info. on the McVoys from Anacostia area of DC and surrounding Maryland counties:My gr.grandpa was Martin McVoy from Spanish West, FL who moved to MD/DC areas during the Civil War. His wife was Eliza Jane Cockran McVoy and apparently they had 4 known children: Martin Nathaniel McVoy, Ada Mcvoy Hutchins, Josephine McVoy, and Eulalia McVoy.

Eliza Jane McVoy is buried at Christ Church in Pt.Republic, Calvert Co., MD. There is another burial there for a Joseph Murphy McVoy that is listed in the MD State Archives as being buried in 1895--no other info. Martin Nathaniel McVoy #2 was my paternal grandpa. He married Margaret Julia Suite of Golden Beach, St.Mary's Co.MD. Martin McVoy #2 was born MD in 1888 and died Wash.DC 1961 and was a retired horticulturist for the US Dept.of Agriculture in DC. He lived in the Anacostia area of DC for 35 years prior to his death. His sister, Ada McVoy Hutchins, 1891-1975 lived in Calvert Co., MD and ran a small post office next to a store. His other 2 sisters: Josephine McVoy & Eulalia McVoy, I have absolutely no info. on either. I have never even known they existed until last week when a note in a Christmas card from my cousin told me their names. My grandpa, Martin McVoy only had one eye and the other was glass. Some family members think it may have been due to cataracts, but no one knows for sure. Also, in our McVoy line, there is family lore of a set of triplets somewhere in my grandpa's family. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family? The 1st Martin from Spanish Florida, fought in the Union 1st MD Cavalry, Co.A, 2nd Sgt.(Source: Broadfoots Union Roster PA/Wash DC/MD). He may have lived from 1845-1924--not sure.

I have several queries:
1) My gg grandfather, John Young Pearson did some form of work in DC during the Civil War, but left no pension record--how can I find what it was he did, better than what I have, which is a hint that he might have worked on the railway, 'though that was not his standard form of work which was mechanic and turner.
2) I am looking for info on these siblings, most if not all who resided in the late 1800's. There parents (Samuel Walker & Elizabeth Little Pearson) were in Somerset Co., PA.: Edwin Henry Pearson, Eliza Finch Pearson, Mary Catherine Pearson, Quincy Adams Pearson, Samuel Plummer Pearson (m.Mary Catherine Williamson), Jessie Mehitable Pearson, Henry Clay Pearson, Elisabeth Mary Pearson, & George Little Pearson. I know almost nothing about this family. Samuel was a brother of my ggg grandfather, Jonathan P. Pearson. I will share what I have, which is a fair amount.
3) I am also looking for info on and descendants of Mary Ellen Cross & Nicholas Emanuel Young, m.10/24/1872, DC. Their children were: Robert Hall Young m.Frances Hempstone Appleby, Clara French Young m. Willard Davis, Hulbert Young m. Gertrude Hatfield & Ada Gillen, Fred Evans Young m. Bertha Frances Oliver, Harriet Snowden Young m. Joseph Hough & Lee Crandall. I have a fair amount of names, few dates & fewer places. Will share what I have in return for your info. I have many generations of Mary Ellen's paternal ancestry & relatives. I descend from an uncle of hers, William Cross of PA and Ohio. William m. Elizabeth Atkinson. Mary Ellen's parents were James & Harriet Stamm Cross. James worked for the Gov't. in--I think the War Dept.
