Also, he evidently married after 1860 in DC to a Pheba Ann ?. I have little info on him and really don't know where to go from here. He evidently left Charles Co., MD to go to DC in early 1860 and was believed to be a Lincoln supporter and told to leave MD. Quite a few of the family lived in Forestville and DC. All are long since gone and I really want to find out some data on my gr.grandfather. Would appreciate any advice or assistance.

9/10/96		 I am seeking info. on Joseph Henry Shaffiled or Schaffield (b. 1835, d.2/17/1899) who came to America from Alsace-Lorraine circa 1854. He married Annie Elizabeth Wagner (b.1833, d.5/3/1887), another immigrant from Prussia on 2/4/1855 and lived in Wash.on and off for many years. Joseph was a hotel manager and moved every couple of years to new hotels. Joseph had two brothers and a sister whom he brought over later: John who married Martha and lived in Wash.--no children; Bernard who moved to California; and Margaret who married a man with the last name of Eish and lived in Wash.--6 children. Any info. on the parents of Joseph, what happened to Bernard, and the offspring of his sister Margaret, would be greatly appreciated.

10/4/98		 I have been searching for my father's long-lost relatives. My father, MIllard F. Steele, Jr. was born in Wash.DC 10/12/14 to Millard F. Steele, Sr., and Catherine Stieren. Millard F. Steele, Sr.'s parents were George M. Steele, Sr. and Georgie A. Steele. Shortly after my father's birth, my grandparents separated and my grandmother brought my father back to St.Paul, Mn. Consequently, my father never knew his father and only has a few letters from his grandfather, George M. Steele, Sr. His grandparents moved from Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA where George Sr. was living in 1930. George M. Steele, Sr. and his wife Georgie had 4 children: George M. Jr., Elsie C. (Roche), Marie F. (Stuaffer), and my grandfather Millard F. Sr. Once his grandfather passed away, my father had no further contact from the Steele family. This is a big blank for me and I have been longing to fill it. I have been trying to find a link somewhere with my past for the past couple of years. 4/9/99		 Was there a female college in DC at one time that was named Washington Seminary? I have an ancestor, Eliza Winston Barksdale, who attended a school by this name in the 1850's. She is buried in Rock Creek Park Cemetary, so the school may also have been in DC. The Wash.Female Seminary in Washington, PA is a possibility, but I think I was told that her school was in the DC area. Thanks for any info.
