FIRST COTTON IN ACADIA PARISH

Church Point Democrat August 15, 1908

The first new cotton in Acadia parish was brought in Tuesday by Edgar Fux living a few miles of this place and was purchased by J.E. Daigle at $0.105 per hundred pounds and ginned at the People’s Gin.  J.E. Daigle made him a present of a barrel of flour as a prize for the first bale of cotton this season.  The same day a little later another bale was brought in by Walter Briscoe another one of our prominent farmers, which was bought by the same firm.
