Welcome to Tishomingo County MSGenWeb! Tishomingo County
was formed in 1836 out of lands of the Chickasaw Cession of 1832. It originally
encompassed present-day Prentiss county and part of present-day Alcorn
County. Those counties (Prentiss and Alcorn) were formed in 1870. Land
and probate records are available from 1836. Marriage records date back
as early as 1842 although most are post-1866. Court records are available
as early as 1856. Its county seat is Iuka.
Your submissions are welcome. If you have access to an
old family Bible which you would transcribe, old deeds that you would
transcribe or abstract, old diaries and letters that you would transcribe
or scan, old family photographs that you would scan and submit, or other
records, we'd love for you to become a contributor to Tishomingo County
MSGenWeb. If you have items or information to contribute, contact the MSGenWeb
Tishomingo Co. Coordinator: Jeff Kemp
