Osmond George Bates - 1879 - 1960 - along with J. L. Wilson,
established the Wilson Bates Furniture Store in 1908, still in business in 1999.
He was affiliated with the Nevada Bank of Commerce and many other banks. Owned
the Newark Land and Livestock Co, and as well as other ranches. Ely City Councilman
for 2 terms. He is buried in Reno, NV with his wife Mabel Bray.
Bowman, Hugh E. -
Born
near Cooperstown Pennsylvania 23 Nov 1846, Died in Ely NV 15 Jan 1916. Youngest son of 7
children. Married to Milvia Illidge. father of 10 children. Father - Hugh Bowman, Mother -
Hanna Weber Bowman. Pony Express rider, then mining engineer. Died age 69
of apoplexy, buried in an IOOF ceremony in Ely City Cemetery.
