agane I sit down on my Ruber to pen you a few lines to inform you whare I am. when We embarked at Gloucester Point on the 30.of Aprill we went up the York to West Point Va. disembarked thare. Went out on a foraging exdition got lots of Cattle.chickins and a few Mules. it is a point (?) that runs down betwixt the Pamunky and Mataponi which formes the York. we had a beautiful time and some fun. our Brigade onely was on that expedition. Wednsday night the forth we embarked on the Transport
Highland .light . (?) at West Point run down the York into the Bay on to Ft. Monroe from thare to Newport News so on up the James (?) to a plac called hundred. above City Point. nearly two miles. disembarked thare Friday morning. Marched about five miles. Camped in a wheet field for the night. some fireing was hurd yesterday we marched about one mile camped in a Cornfield. whare we are now thare was a battle fought yesterday but the male is going out so I shall have to stop. I never felt better
