| LETTER From U.T.Wooster to "brother" |
Suffolk, Va.
it has been some over a week since I have heaird from you ans as I am about to send a box home containing things which i should be obliged to leave behind if we should have to move we shall not be attall disappointed if we have to take our duds and leave in les than a weeks time the Troops have been moving very fast since last night we here that this plase is agoing to be evacuated but it is nothing more than what we call a camp lye;one brigadde has gon to reenforse H eyes (?) we may have to go in a few days I hope thare is going to be something done now our Army is at work evry whare I think one side or the other has got to get (g?) before long it is rather bad that Hooker got shiped on the Rappehonwalk (?) but he dune to mutch
blowing for his own good he called Burnside and mcClellan old wimen or the same thing in his testamad; anything and evry thing but generals. he thought that he
could have ganned a victory to Fredericksburg when Burnside got (re deed?) if he had been in command of the Ptomac Army. I wounder what he thinks now. I think that Hooker is the old woman if thare is one in the whole army; the Herald states that the Rebel Stoneman (?) Jackson is ded he was wounded in the arm in their last engagement on the (Rappenhan ?) his arm was amputated and (s ?) (d? )
Stoneman done a nise thing did he not I suppose that he knows how Richmond looks.
Long Streat has withsrawn all his forces from here and gon to reenforse Sell (?) we have not been troubled with their music for the past few days our men go
to the black water now nearly 20 miles from here I shall start a box tomorrow containing one Blanket on pair of new Pants too shirts too pare of drawers
those drawers with pckets in all a pare (?) that I got in the Fort that we took on the 19th of April the other ones are sutch as Uncle Sam gives us one bunch of
Carteridges some Coffee and a box of Candy for nella. I understand that thare is noe Exprefs (?) alound (?) to be sent from the Army now but I mite as well close then and tri (?) way home as to run the risk of looseing the (h?) as I did last year; I shall not pay the express on this end of the road the Box is directed too Binghamton I should have sent a ?
