Allbright

William Isely Allbright was born 11 February 1803, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, a son of William Allbright. He married Elizabeth Bollinger on November 29, 1886, in Guilford County, NC. Elizabeth was born about 1807 in North Carolina, a daughter of John and Susannah (Slaughter) Bollinger. William moved his family from Arkansas to the Republic of Texas about 1836 and made their home near San Felipe, headquarters of Austin’s Colony. The known children of William and Elizabeth are: Hannah Elizabeth, Benjamin Franklin, Jacob E. Bollinger, Andrew Jackson, and Sarah Ann Allbright. Mrs. Elizabeth Bollinger Allbright died about 1839 near San Felipe.

William Isely Allbright married Mrs. Sarah Denton Bird, the widow of Captain John Bird, on November 15, 1840, in Austin County, Republic of Texas. William and Sarah, with some of the Allbright and Bird children moved from the San Felipe area to the John Bird land grant near present Harmony in present Burleson County, Texas before 1848. William and Sarah Allbright joined the Dove Baptist Church in Caldwell in November 1848. Thomas J. and Martha Bird joined the Dove Baptist Church on September 22, 1849, by baptism. Charles and Hannah A. Young also joined in 1849 by letter. William P. and Callie R. Bird joined the church in October 1852 by letter William I. Allbright became a deacon in Dove Baptist in January 1852 and was ordained there to preach on March 28, 1858.William and Sarah Allbright, Thomas J. Bird, and others were dismissed by letters in August 1865 to join a new church named Harmony Baptist. William P. Bird sold 4.3 acres out of the John Bird headright league, situated in Burleson County , on the waters if Davidson Creek, to be used as a church yard and school grounds. Mrs. Sarah Bird Allbright died in December 1873 and was buried in the Allbright Cemetery. William and Sarah had one child, Thomas Allbright born about 1846.

Reverend William I. Allbright married Rosa Ellen Fleming, the widow of Leonard Fleming with two children Mary Fleming and Arthur L. Fleming, on January 15, 1875, in Burleson County. They had two children; Jesse D. Allbright, born about 1876, and Rose Ellen Allbright, born January 18, 1877. Mrs. Rose Fleming Allbright died in June 1880 in Burleson County. Her grave has not been located but it should be in the Allbright Cemetery. Reverend William Isely Allbright died December 5, 1886, and his grave is beside Mrs. Sarah Denton Bird Allbright’s grave.

Reverend William Isely Allbright’s known children are:

1.    Hannah Elizabeth Allbright, born in December 1822, in Madison County, Missouri, died May 18, 1905, in Caldwell, Burleson County. She married James Lathem on November 22, 1840, at San Felipe. They had two known children: Sarah Elizabeth Lathem, born about 1842 and died before 1850, and William James Lathem born about 1843 and died May 12, 1862, at Okolona, Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Mr. James Lathem died about 1844, probably in Guadalupe County, Texas. Hannah married Charles Young on July 3, 2845, in San Felipe. Charles was born about 1818 in Ohio, and died in 1868 in Brazos County, Texas. Charles and Hannah’s known children are: Benjamin, born in 1848; Jacob, born about 1849; Kate, born about 1851; Mary, born in 1852; Fannie, born about 1855; Andrew Jackson, born in December 1856; Charles Wesley, born July 16, 1858; and Hannah Ellen, born May 16, 1860. Hannah Allbright Young died May 18, 1905, in Caldwell and is buried in the Allbright  Cemetery.

2.    Benjamin R. Allbright was born about 1829 in Missouri and died September 25, 1874, in Robertson County, Texas. His two marriages were first to Marguirita Wilhelmina Rixen and second to Keziah Ellis.

3.    Jacob E. Bollinger Allbright was born February 20, 1830, in Pope County, Arkansas and died after 1910 in Edwards County, Texas. He married Jane Francis Randolph Lockman on December 21, 1853, in Burleson County, Texas. Jane was a daughter of  Stanley Lockerman and Elizabeth Rives.  Jacob and Jane are reported to have had ten children.

4.    Andrew Jackson Allbright was born about 1832 in Arkansas. He married Dialintha Brymer on June 1 1854, in Burleson County. She is a daughter of Amos R. and Vashti (Hopkins) Brymer. Andrew and Dialintha’s known children are: Sarah E. Allbright, born about 1856, married William Rogers; Mary Allbright, born about 1857; married G.W. Poole on July 10, 1873, in Burleson County; Fannie J. Allbright, born about 1858, married Mr. Smith; and William Ira Allbright, born about 1859, married Mattie Annie Pierce and they had nine children, died 1927, buried in Porters Chapel Cemetery, Burleson County. Andrew J. died June 7, 1867, in 17th Texas Inf. CSA, at Millican Bend.

5.    Sarah Ann Allbright was born March 4, 1836. She married Jacob Hill in 1854 at San Felipe, Austin County, Texas. Jacob, a son of John and Mary (Bollinger) Hill was born September 15, 1827. Sarah Ann died November 23, 1889, and Jacob died June 4, 1909. Jacob and Sarah’s known children are:; Mary Ann Hill, born December 12, 1856, married Arthur Gray, died January 1, 1882; John William Hill born October 24, 1858, died February 1, 1864; .; James Huston Hill, born March 3, 1861; Georgia Emma Hill, born September 27 1863 married R.S. Hensley, and died November 27, 1927; George Benjamin Hill, born January 6, 1868, died September 17, 1921; and William I. Hill, born November 20, 1870, died April 19, 1939.

6.    Thomas Allbright, son of William I. And Sarah Bird Allbright was born about 1846 in Texas. The 1850 Census of Burleson County is the only record of him found. If Thomas died between 1850 and 1860, his now unmarked grave may be the first grave in the Allbright Cemetery.

7.    Jesse D. Allbright, son of William I. and Rose E. Fleming Allbright, was born about 1876 in Burleson County. He married Iona Berry, born in October 1881 in Brazos County, Texas. Rose died May 24, 1924, in Tarrant County, Texas. Jesse and Rose had four known children: Alvin, Ethel, Minnie, and Viola Allbright. Jesse also died in 1824 in Tarrant County.

8.    Rose Ellen Allbright, daughter of William I. and Rose E. Fleming Allbright, was born June 18, 1877, in Burleson County and died in Edwards County, Texas. She and her husband, Mr. J.T. Brown, born September 12, 1872, died May 5, 1946, are buried in the Rocksprings Cemetery in Edwards County, Texas
