Funerals and Memorials 10 July 2003 Austin American-Statesman B4 Audis Rene' Anderson passed away July 8, 2003, in Austin, Texas. He was born March 12, 1922, in Cooper, Texas, the son of Monroe and Della Anderson. Mr. Anderson graduated from Cooper High School in 1939 and enrolled in East Texas Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. He volunteered for the U.S. Air Force at age 18 and was sent to Randolph Field in San Antonio, Texas, assigned to the 339th Squadron. He was then transferred to Mather Field in Sacramento, California, where he was an engineer on a B-25 bomber. In 1943, he married Wanda Cregg of Enloe, Texas, and then was transferred to Douglas Air Force Base in Douglas, Arizona. From there, the 339th Squadron was moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, for overseas assignment. He was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force in December, 1945. Mr. Anderson attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and later transferred back to East Texas State Teachers College where he received a degree in Industrial Education. After teaching mechanics for two years, he later was employed by the Texas State Comptroller in Austin where he retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda, of Austin, Texas; three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The children include Pam Burnette and husband, Tom of Plano, Texas; Gail Hughes and husband, Robert of Austin, Texas; and Doyce Anderson and wife, Deborah of Melissa, Texas. The five grandchildren include Tommy Burnette and wife, Jenny of Prosper, Texas; Erin Clayton and husband Shawn of Frisco, Texas; Lee Walker of Austin, Texas; and Damon and Kayla Anderson of Melissa, Texas. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Richard E. Helmer, III and the staff of Southwest Regional Cancer Center and also special thanks to the 7th floor staff of Seton Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity. Mr. Anderson's parents and older brother preceeded him in death. He was a life-long Methodist Church member and a 32nd degree Mason. Pallbearers are Tom Burnette, Robert Hughes, Tommy Burnette, Lee Walker, Damon Anderson, and Shawn Clayton. Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Burnette, Jr. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
