BALDWIN, COVINGTON, TAYLOR, WILLIAMS posted by Donna Hunter Email: DHunter365@aol.com on Saturday, September 19, 1998

Does anyone have information on a BALDWIN family of St. Landry Parish whose only child Isaac BALDWIN Jr., died in 1845, unmarried, parents deceased. He left a cousin, Albert COVINGTON, a tract of land and the rest of his large estate to his slave, Laura TAYLOR. He asked that all be sold and the money go to Laura. He emancipated both Laura and her husband William TAYLOR. The will was contested and I have been told by the New Orleans Library that a copy of the succession would cost over $300. The will was contested by Isaac's aunts and uncles - siblings of his mother (children of Nathanial WILLIAMS of Rockingham Co., NC. I would like to contact someone who knows about this estate settlement.
