Frank & Cinda Pollacia Biography


Frank & Cinda were born in 1911; she in Dallas, TX. and he in DeRidder, La. They were married in 1938 and resided in DeRidder. While operating Pollacia’s Goodyear Shoe Hospital – they were active in the religious community of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and numerous civic organizations. They were famous for their role as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the children of DeRidder for over 50 years.

Frank was a charter member, and active for 60 years, of the Lions Club. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a charter member of the local council. Serving in numerous positions, he was voted to the Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame in 1982. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World for over 60 years. In 1977, he was King Beaufair for the Beauregard Parish Fair. He was noted for his unique balance of Family – Religion – and Civic contributions. He was best noted for his skill as a shoe repairman and his role as Santa Claus. He was a model citizen for the community in every aspect.

Cinda was active in the Business and Professional Women’s club. In 1970 she was voted “Woman of the Year”. Serving as Director of the Beauregard Museum, she helped focus the youth and visitors the rich history of Beauregard Parish. Frank, after retirement, was with her and became the official historian for museum visitors. She was frequently selected as a model for several department stores. She was a leader in numerous church organizations such as the Altar Society and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She and Frank were seen at numerous local and statewide events – always in coordinated dress.
