Mrs. L. A. Dorr

JACKSON- Funeral services were today at 2 p.m. from the Sathe Funeral Home for Mrs. L. A. Dorr, 86-year old Alpha woman who died Sunday night at Willmar Hospital. The Rev. Fred Sommars officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorr was born Julia B. Hoovel, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. John Hoovel, Sept. 1, 1877 in Petersburg Township where her parents were among the township's first settlers.

She was graduated from Jackson High School in 1899, attended Mankato Normal School and taught in the rural school north of Jackson. The schoolhouse where she taught has since been moved to the Jackson fairgrounds, where it is now an historic building.

She and L. A. Dorr were married March 21, 1906 at Alpha, farming in this area.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward Skarda, Sioux Falls, two granddaughters, and one sister, Mrs. Ernest Singmaster, Des Moines, Iowa.
