Asleep in Jesus! blessed sleep,
From which none ever wakes to seep;
A calm and undisturbed repose,
Unbroken by the last of foes.
Asleep in Jesus! oh, how sweet
To be for such a slumber meet
With holy confidence to sing
That death has lost his venomed sting,
Asleep in Jesus! peaceful rest,
Whose waking is supremely blest;
No fear, no woe, shall dim the hour
That manifests the Saviors power.
Asleep in Jesus! Oh, for me
May such a blissful refuge be;
Securely shall my ashes lie,
And wait the summons from on high.

A TRIBUTE TO LEONA BESSER

We miss our darling Leona dear,
Where oft she used to be,
To cheer us when returning home
With love and childish glee.
We miss our darling, yes, indeed,
We miss her everywhere;
Her little form no more we see,
Our loving hearts to cheer.
We miss our darling, yes, indeed,
We miss her all the day;
No more we hear her little feet
Upon the kitchen floor.
To us her troubles she don't bring,
For all her cares are o'er;
Our darling child we no more see
Now sitting in her chair.
We miss her at the family board,
We miss her everywhere;
And when the day is past and gone
And when we go to bed,
We realize then, most of all,
Our darling Leona's dead.
Her little body then we miss,
For close by us she'd lay;
We miss our darling's kisses too,
And little words she'd say.
But then we get to our new home,
All free from toil and care,
We'll meet Leona once again,
We will not miss her there.
(sic) home our lot will be
With him to know its joys.
